Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced engagement and involvement Lead to join the RM Partners (North West and South West London Cancer Alliance) team. This role will work in close collaboration with North West London and South West London ICS colleagues to deliver and support a unique programme of work focusing on People and Community Engagement and Involvement (PCEI). This is an instrumental role in ensuring that the voice of our diverse west London communities is at the heart of RM Partners strategy and programme of work.
We are looking for someone who has the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to PCEI, with experience of working in the NHS, public or third sectors. You will be an experienced relationship builder and communicator with a track record of partnership working and delivering large scale projects and leading on PCEI and working across sectors.
Cancer Alliances were established in 2019 following the publication of the Long Term Plan in order to deliver the commitments around cancer to save 55,000 more lives per year.
RM Partners is the cancer alliance for NW and SW London ICSs, supporting 3.7 million people. We are hosted by the Royal Marsden, and work independently to serve our population, working with Place Screening and Provider teams to deliver transformation. Our strategy can be found on the RM Partners website and is signed off by both ICS CEOs.

Our stakeholders are critical to our mission, and the appendix shows the scale and prestige of the institutions we work in partnership with. Our ambition is to save more lives from cancer through earlier diagnosis and reducing inequalities. Nationally Cancer Alliances’ role within the wider health care system is described as leading the whole system planning and delivery of cancer services for each of their ICSs; including:

  • System planning that supports improvement in cancer outcomes and constitutional standards and enables ICS commissioning;
  • Whole system delivery of cancer pathways, linking primary and secondary care and diagnostic pathways, to support long term commissioning decisions, with resource to support;
  • Using clinical expertise to ensure every intervention is evidence based.

To deliver our strategy we have seven delivery programmes focused around the three areas of cancer care: early diagnosis, faster diagnosis and treatment variation.
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a world-leading cancer centre. Our role is to offer our patients the best cancer care available anywhere in the world, and to continue to make a global contribution to finding better ways of diagnosing and treating cancer. We employ over 4,500 staff in a diverse range of careers including nursing, medical, science, radiography, pharmacy, occupational therapy, finance and administrative services. We have two hospitals – one in Chelsea, London, and one in Sutton, Surrey – as well as a Medical Daycare Unit in Kingston Hospital.
At The Royal Marsden, we deal with cancer every day, so we understand how valuable life is. When people entrust their lives to us, they have the right to demand the very best. That’s why the pursuit of excellence lies at the heart of everything we do.
At the heart of the hospital is our dedicated team. We offer a stimulating and dynamic working environment, a wide range of staff benefits, learning and development opportunities and clear career pathways. There are opportunities to work flexibly across a range of areas and specialities and we welcome flexible working requests from point of hire to support employees work life balance. We are looking for employees who aspire to excellence, share our values and can play a crucial role in our on-going achievements.
