Description:

The Project Manager/ Estimator will assist in planning, pricing, executing, and delivery of Company projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with provided specifications. The Project Manager/ Estimator will help define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, communicate with other contractors regarding scheduling, and support the efforts of project team members. Efficient delivery of project requirements, effective quality control, and clear communication with management team are very important.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of similar experience in Heavy Civil or Asphalt Paving Project Management preferred
  • Previous experience estimating public and private tenders an asset along with experience managing projects
  • University degree in Civil or Resource Engineering, or other related discipline is an asset
  • Previous experience estimating public and private tenders an asset along with experience managing projects
  • Ability to work as part of an estimating/construction team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional attitude, punctual, assertive, and personable
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Ability to respond in pressure situations with a calm demeanor and high sense of urgency

    Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of cost estimates for construction projects
  • Preparation of public and private tender packages for review and submittal.
  • Attending site visits, measuring, take-offs, submittals etc.
  • Reviewing plans to perform take-offs to help estimate projects effectively
  • Prepare schedules for awarded works
  • Complete preconstruction duties including subcontractor coordination, site meetings, scheduling, and contract administration
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and trades on required estimates and the resolution of any issues that arise to facilitate the completion of the construction project
  • Work with the Managers to coordinate the activities of the Foremen and subcontractor work crews as required
  • Provide on-going support to field personnel to help identify and remove obstacles that impact construction progress, resolve challenges with respective owners and to identify and implement profit improvement strategies to the job as needed.
  • Coordinate, price, and process change orders or technical problems with owner requirements, change orders with owners timely.
  • Review time sheets, all purchase orders, delivery tickets, subcontractor requisitions, and invoices to ensure that they are coded correctly for project costing.
  • Visit project sites daily for troubleshooting and for the purposes of ensuring project quality.
  • Initiate and review regular project billing
  • Proactively support the corporate safety program and set a positive example
  • Participate in job closeout activities, including preparation of as-built drawings, retaining release from subcontractors, ensuring warranty information provided to owner, final payment quantities and payment and recovery of holdback
  • Perform other duties as required.
