PROJECT DESCRIPTION
One of the biggest UK rail network companies operating with rail infrastructure and asset management has a need to develop and support enterprise-level information systems.
SKILLS
Must have
Significant proven track record in leading and delivering successful, large scale and complex ITprojects and programmes.
Significant experience in driving and delivering though others using commercial contracts.
Proven experience in supplier management and delivering with commercial acumen.
Significant experience in leading and assuring project management artefacts.
Expert knowledge of project management principles, methods, techniques, tools and emerging trends
Formal Programme/Project Management qualification (e.g. APM/P – Certified Project Manager, Managing Successful Programmes, and Prince 2 or equivalent).
Significant experience in management of customer expectations, senior stakeholders and developing strong relationships across the business.
Strong leadership skills, influencing skills and ability to motivate and inspire confidence in others.
High levels of flexibility, adaptability and broad thinking.
Knowledge and experience of a range of delivery/ development life cycles, e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative
Strong financial management skills including quality forecasting
Stakeholder management and excellent written and verbal communication
Nice to have
Past experience of working within the Railway industry
Technical appreciation and awareness
Responsibilities:
The corporate function has a requirement to deliver a number of projects within their Business Plan. In order to do this effectively, the portfolio requires continued project management capability to deliver across the IT Delivery Lifecycle for a number of projects.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be allocated across a number of projects within the portfolio and their time and costs apportioned as necessary.
In line with IT Delivery Lifecycle, the resource is required to work with the sponsor, stakeholders and business users to undertake project management activities across PACE/GRIP phases 1-6.
Artefacts and deliverables to be generated are in line with the IT Delivery LifeCycle and include but are not limited to:
Project plan
Project Initiation Document (PID)
OPSOC and financial reporting on a periodic basis
Risks, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies via NR ARM and or local tracker
Production of weekly and period project status reporting
Responsibilities include:
Manage the project on a day-to-day basis
Attendance and presentation to periodic project health checks with PMO
Work with various internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
Manage various third-party suppliers that are contracted to deliver the whole or part of the project
Adherence to the IT Delivery Lifecycle and IT Governance
Ensure artefacts and deliverables as agreed at the start of the project via the PMO Deliverables Matrix are managed throughout the project
Financial Management of the project and periodic reporting
