MetOcean Telematics, a leading global provider of marine and defence electronics, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our dynamic team in Dartmouth, Canada. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery and performance of our cutting-edge telematics products.
About the Role
MetOcean, a leading global provider of marine and defence electronics, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Project Manager (SPM) to join our dynamic team in Dartmouth, Canada. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery and performance of our cutting-edge telematics products.
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the SPM will be responsible for managing new product development and support projects. They will participate in the engineering design processes and be able to lead a cross-functional technical team. The SPM should understand system engineering concepts and be able to guide the team through all milestones, including those related to transitioning products to production. The candidate will manage contractors, and will support the team through proposal, estimating, contract negotiations and execution.
The SPM will manage project performance including execution, risk management, schedule creation, and all other commitments. They will interact heavily with internal stakeholders, across a broad spectrum of issues, and must inspire confidence within this community that the team/solution/approach is effective. The SPM will advise management on project status through briefing packages that include details on schedule, cost and technical progress. Additionally, they must ensure phased gate reviews and project plans accurately reflect the project’s health.
The SPM must have excellent communication skills, proactively engaging with the team and management to achieve success. This will include working with department managers to ensure the team has the correct technical skills to develop the product. The SPM will also be responsible for requirements management across development programs.
Responsibilities

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

• Ensure engineering solutions meet quality standards and project requirements.
• Conduct program reviews and post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, preferably in an engineering environment.
• Proven track record of managing complex development projects and delivering results.
• Certificate in Project Management is considered an asset.
• PMP certification is considered an asset.
