Description:

OpenVPN is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee our development team. Our ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science, 3+ years of experience in the field, and a good understanding of networking and security concepts. In this role, you will be responsible for the team’s performance, oversee the development process, and act as a project manager and Scrum master.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring adherence to project timelines, resources, and scope
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria
  • Develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, risk management, and contingency planning
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on project goals and progress
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, providing regular updates to stakeholders and senior management
  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and adapt plans as necessary to ensure project success
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by conducting post-project reviews and applying lessons learned to future projects
  • Take ownership of the project and drive the software development process through all stages of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Review and improve the performance of individual team members

Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science

  • PMP, PMI-ACP certification is desirable
  • Strong understanding of networking or cybersecurity concepts
  • Experience leading software development projects in networking or security is desirable
  • Proven experience in creating project plans, including resource allocation, risk management, and contingency planning
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall
  • Knowledge of PERT and EVM
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible schedule — ability to work across time zones
