Job Description
The Senior Project Manager will take responsibility to review the different project documentation, including but not limited to budget, cost analysis, entitlements, design brief, design and engineering documents, project and construction schedule, procurement strategy, etc. to provide an assessment on project feasibility, risk identification and management as the Client requires for the initiation and capitalization of the project as well as to provide timely and appropriate professional advice throughout the lifecycle of the project development.
The project manager will be responsible of Interfacing with the client, stewarding his interests in front of contractors and other consultants, at all project stages. Responsible of performing periodic site visits and inspections, attending project coordination meetings, evaluating funding and cash draws to objectively identify project schedule or budget risk factors.
This professional will also be articulating and presenting his findings in writing and in person, as well as manage the contracted scope and identify potential business opportunities, within the firm strategic plans.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience as a project manager and a minimum of 5 years working as a senior project manager for industrial construction projects.
  • Sector experience e.g. Logistics, Automotive, Manufacturing Plants or other hi-tech industrial facilities construction projects.
  • Knowledge of best construction management practices in Mexico from permitting to commissioning; and construction or project management bilingual experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience in management of General Contractors procurement, bidding, and contracting process.
  • Experience in management the entitlements, and utilities (power, water, etc.) processes.
  • Engineering or architectural degree with chartered status.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish at a working level to lead meetings, prepare reports and written communication, do presentations, and effectively engage with clients and consultants.
  • Microsoft Office tools.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Run and lead client and other required meetings, presenting updates to the client at all project stages.
  • Stakeholder management: Lead local Client and report to global team.
  • Manage risks and control the risk register, manage risk workshops as needed.
  • Identify the factors that influence construction costs and can monitor and report on this data.
  • Issue reports as agreed with Client.
  • Review requests for payment.
  • Advocate on the part of the client during disputes, disagreements, modifications, or change orders.
  • Prepare, update and manage the project schedule and project milestones.
  • Analyze, track and effectively manage critical milestone activities to avoid schedule slip.
  • Track and ensure equipment meet the project schedule.
  • Review final invoices, payment applications, retention payments.
  • Collaborative approach, be client facing, able to develop strong relationships, confidently present to clients and stakeholders.
  • Be assertive and detail orientated, to identify potential issues early and raise them in the appropriate forum for resolution.
  • Advanced skills with spreadsheets, report writing and presentations.
  • Management experience, with ability to manage and lead team in delivering a commission and general line management.
  • Manage revenue, team resource and priorities to ensure that client expectations are met.
  • Have an elevated sense of quality, and lead quality control action.
  • Have a good knowledge and awareness of Health and Environmental Safety in construction.
  • Be an effective communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Be a self-starter, a team player, a natural leader capable of motivating teams.
