Description:

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
It’s not every job where you make a difference for the people of Scotland. But it’s what’s behind every job here.
Our work keeps Scotland’s water flowing, from reservoir to tap – and from sewer to treatment plant.
Do your bit by joining us as a Senior Project Manager at The West Hub in Glasgow.
About the role
Your mission is to ensure our Capital Investment (CI) projects in the West of Scotland are delivered safely on time and within budget. You’ll be leading a team in a journey to bring a diverse range of projects to life, working closely with our supply chain partners.
Time management, budget control, and resource management are all in a day’s work for you. Your goal? To make sure every project is a success.
Building strong networks and embracing a customer-centric focus is what you do best. Get ready to tackle a high volume of exciting projects and initiatives.
What you’ll do
You will Lead a team of Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, guiding them through the journey of delivering a variety of projects and programs and you’ll be the master of collaboration, fostering trust and teamwork among your colleagues and stakeholders.
You’ll be leading the charge in achieving Scottish Water’s Strategic Ambitions along with building those crucial relationships with key internal and external players
Papers, approvals, and project progress – you’ll handle it all. You will also keep a watchful eye on monthly reports, making sure everything is on track, from costs to milestones.
Additionally, you will cultivate a project culture that ensures we hit our business objectives and be responsible for safety and cost control.
You will also make sure we’re following all the rules – governance, safety, quality, environmental regulations and compliance with CDM Regulations.
And that’s not all! You’ll drive and manage a process that makes projects come to life, from planning to construction to commissioning. We’re talking meeting deadlines, quality standards, and industry best practices.
Lastly you will help us improve our Project Management Processes and systems.
What you’ll bring
You’re a people person with experience leading teams and developing colleagues. When it comes to delivery, you’re the mastermind who sets the plans, milestones, and goals.
You are results driven with a focus on budget, and high quality and change doesn’t scare you – in fact, you’re the one suggesting new policies and procedures for better results.
Good communication skills are essential, with the ability to influence everyone from colleagues to stakeholders.
You’ve got experience in program delivery, leading teams, and setting performance milestones. Plus, you know your way around business change projects, construction health and safety, customer engagement and financial management.
You’ll be based at the West Hub Hub in Glasgow (Stepps), but you’ll also need a valid UK driving license as some travel may be required.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.
This role has no standby requirements however in emergencies you may be contacted out with normal working hours. You will receive 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.
When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 8. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £48,900. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £68,510.
In November 2024, we are moving to a 35hr week to support the wellbeing and work/life balance of our employees.
This role is suitable for hybrid working - you’ll be working minimum of 2 days in office per week. And we bring our team together every Wednesday in our Stepps office, and your visible in-person leadership will be required.
If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on the 22nd of October 2024.
Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. Screening is conducted on our behalf by a third party, and must be completed before your start date. Don’t worry - we’ll only start these checks once you’ve accepted an offer.
A few final things worth knowing…
Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out!
Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We’re also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.
As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you’ll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.
Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
