Description:

Managing the smooth and successful delivery of complex projects across early and faster diagnosis, treatments and personalised care, including supporting the implementation of strong governance, protocols, and project controls. Building internal and external relationships which deliver improvements and efficiencies and work across organisational boundaries. Managing the development of policy and strategy for the delivery of key projects Developing transformation project plans for implementation across the alliance. Working with and through Cancer Alliance to effect service transformations for patients.
Working closely with partner programmes and organisations, to ensure their priorities and deliverables are aligned to the Cancer Alliances objectives. Engaging extensively with stakeholders to ensure they are part of the design and delivery of cancer transformation projects. Lead the team in the delivery of project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the project. Pro-actively manage stakeholders, respond to and resolve conflict when this arises through facilitation or other appropriate mechanisms.
Be responsible for a high standard of work supporting the delivery of projects on time, to quality standards and in a cost-effective manner. Operate effectively in a flexible and demanding environment and proactively engage with key stakeholders. Work effectively with a variety of external consultancies working on other projects and programs within other NHS directorates as required. Communicates and provides highly complex information to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
(Verbal, written and numerical) Nurture key relationships and maintain networks internally and externally. Apply a structured change management approach and methodology in relation to change management. May deputise for the Programme Manager as required. Budget holder for assigned function/team, budget setting with the Head of Department.
Responsible for ongoing monitoring of expenditure against budget and ensuring the appropriate documentation is available for scrutiny. To work collaboratively across the Cancer Alliance and wider cancer family to drive improvements in cancer outcomes and experiences for patients and their families. To act as a champion for patients and their interests and involve the public and patients in the policy development and decision-making of SWAG CA.
