WSP Middle East is seeking an experienced Senior Protection Engineer to lead protection and control systems for a critical power transmission project in Oman. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of relevant experience and a strong background in protection engineering, especially in the power transmission and distribution sector. The Senior Protection Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of protection schemes for high-voltage (HV) transmission systems, ensuring system reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Your new role, what’s involved?

• The implementation and maintenance of all Protection and Metering scheme in transmission network, ensuring that all policies, procedures and safety rules are adhered.
• Do protection calculations and review power system and TRM network studies and recommend solutions and troubleshooting.
• Do protection system studies, calculations, and review power system studies for the Network.
• Analysis the Protection and Metering data and the reporting system operation performance
• Provide technical expertise to LDC and Strategic Planning and Projects
• Ensure protective relays function promptly at the time of fault conditions with proper coordination
• Checking the relays setting calculations, equipment design calculations and the fault level calculations
• Testing and commissioning of all Protection devices and Meters
