About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. The role of the Commission is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving aged care.
The Commission is the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and the primary point of contact for consumers and providers in relation to quality and safety. Our vision is to support a world-class aged care system driven by empowered consumers who enjoy the best possible quality of life.
We aim to build confidence and trust in aged care, empower consumers, promote best practice service provision, promote quality standards and hold providers to account for their performance against the expected standards of care. We seek to promote an aged care system that develops safer systems of care, inculcates a culture of safety and quality, and learns from mistakes, while providing the oversight that can assure the community that aged care services are operating as they should, including working on continuous improvement.
Meet some of our people and learn more about the Commission and our Regulatory Strategy on our website www.agedcarequality.gov.au
About the Team
The Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group is responsible for quality assessment and monitoring of approved provider compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, accreditation and reaccreditation audits of residential aged care services, quality audits of home services, and investigations into triaged reports of serious incidents in aged care services.
About the Role
As a Senior Quality Assessor in the Quality Assessment and Monitoring Group, you will:
Visit aged care services, either as part of a team or individually, to assess the services performance and compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
Engage with aged care service providers to find and collect information and evidence, actively follow through on lines of enquiry, and conduct interviews with service staff and management.
Lead the on-site audit delivery, including delegating tasks effectively, balancing workloads among auditors and providing appropriate guidance to team.
Communicate with care delivery location management during the on-site audit delivery.
Monitor audit progress and ensure the quality of audit delivery and audit reporting.
Conduct in person or telephone-based interviews with consumers and/or their representatives about the quality of care and services provided by an aged care service.
Collect and analyse evidence to record performance audit and assessment findings in written reports, using the Commissions IT applications.
Prepare well-reasoned and accurate reports for a delegate, which may be published, following an assessment of the quality of care and services provided by a service to inform statutory decisions within legislated timeframes.
Predominantly be based in the field with over-night and multi-night travel required frequently, undertaking visits to aged care services across each state and territory, including visiting rural and remote communities where aged care services are provided.
Other duties as required.
