About the role
Balfour Beatty is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic Ground Engineering team at our Maxim Business Park offices in Motherwell, Scotland.
Balfour Beatty’s Ground Engineering business is positioned as the UK’s leading specialist geotechnical contractor, drawing on its knowledge and expertise in delivering innovative piling and ground improvement solutions across all sectors, focussing on providing the solid foundations for buildings of any height, ranging from city skyscrapers to house foundation packages.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. While the primary focus will be on the Net Zero Teesside project, you will have the opportunity to be involved in upcoming contracts across the North.
What you’ll be doing
Other key responsibilities will be:
- Prepare Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents.
- Critically appraises, estimates, and negotiates with third parties.
- Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
- Assist with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes.
- Undertake constructability analyses using construction programmes.
- Prepare Internal reports, commercial progress, and financial reconciliation.
- Prepare procurement programme and helps develop the strategy.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for the following:
- A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience
- Membership or progression toward RICS, ICES, or CIOB
- In-depth knowledge of the construction industry, with expertise in geotechnical and ground engineering
- A valid CSCS card
