About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Highways team on the A63 project in Hull. The role will be based in Hull with some scope for hybrid working.
Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage, and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities creating communities where people want to live work and play.
We provide high quality asset strategy, management, and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable, and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be required to support other members of the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial tasks as well as mentoring others on their professional qualification journey
What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Prepares Bill of Quantities, Resource Schedules & analyses tender documents
  • Advising on contractual matters and formulating correspondence
  • Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location
  • Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
  • Analyses the commercial progress and report to senior project staff
  • Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders
  • Analyses rates & prices, agreement of variations and or compensation events as required
  • Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required
  • Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation
  • Assess and identify risks and opportunities as part of risk management

Who we’re looking for

You will have the following:

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
  • Membership of (or working towards) CICES, RICS, ICES or CIOB
  • An experienced QS with a track record in managing all costs relating to civil engineering projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership and strategic change Management skills
  • Business and Customer Awareness
