Description:

Life Unlimited.
At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living!
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer there is an opportunity to offer leadership and support for the Mechanical elements of our product design in Advanced Wound Devices (AWD). The role will provide an opportunity to bring elements of leadership to development projects while consistently straddling what’s considered conceptual thinking, and data driven research. It requires “thinking outside of the box”, or at times redefining the “box” during development.
What will you be doing?
To do this, we are looking for someone who can bring expertise as a Mechanical Design Engineer to the team, ideally with experience designing plastics for manufacturing and will bring experience and knowledge of those manufacturing processes. Ultimately this will help validate and verify the design as the design history file is built and evidence is detailed and proved.
Beyond the hands on development of our AWD products and components there is a requirement to work with and partner with external vendors. You would work with S+N staff and our external partners to test, verify and validate the designs.
What does success look like?
Success in the role will require collaborative efforts internally and externally. It starts with ownership of the workload, and being the expert in the process. Outside of that, you would need to own relationships with vendors and suppliers managing their work to design, test and validate parts of our product development.

Successful candidates would need the following:

  • Experienced mechanical engineer with experience working in a product development program
  • Experience managing external vendors involved in our product development
