ABOUT THE INSURANCE COUNCIL

The Insurance Council of British Columbia is the regulatory organization that licenses and regulates the activities of over 50,000 life and general insurance agents, general insurance salespersons, insurance adjusters, and restricted travel insurance agents in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in a related field such as business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in insurance, regulatory or related field.
  • Experience in summarizing and communicating complex regulatory or insurance information and data clearly, and preparing and delivering supportive resources, website content, reports and presentation.
  • Experience organizing, creating, hosting, and delivering webinars or information sessions and providing representation at industry or stakeholder events.
  • Experience in client service and conflict resolution.
  • Computer skills, with proficiency in in Microsoft suite platforms, including Power Point, Excel, SharePoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, content writing, reporting writing and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and judgment skills.
  • Ability to handle and organize a large volume of varied work and deal with multiple concurrent tasks.
    Salary Range: $65,457 - $94,095 with a midpoint of $81,822 per annum.
    Upon hire, new employees will be placed in a starting salary between the minimum and P50 (midpoint) of the salary range. The P50 of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position

Responsibilities:

  • Timely and thorough handling and response to inquiries, both verbally and in writing, and providing direction and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on matters under Insurance Council’s purview, including addressing non-standard inquiries and escalations.
  • Maintain an in depth understanding of and remain current on Insurance Council operations, legislation, practices, regulatory and industry trends and happenings and support others in their development and understanding.
  • Track, analyze and report on inquiries and trends and recommend and implement modifications or improvements to resources, regulatory practices, guidelines, policies, standards, and expectations, including contributing to and driving the development of webinars, website content and other tools and resources, as appropriate.
  • Contribute to building awareness of Insurance Council’s role and services, recommend and implement ways in which we can provide and better serve consumers, licensees, and government.
  • Maintain accurate recording and reporting of information in Insurance Council’s systems and databases.
  • Collaborate with and assist Practice and Quality Assurance staff and leaders, and other Insurance Council staff.
  • Contribute to and implement improvements to drive and support operational effectiveness.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
