Description:
Senior Research Assistants are normally graduate students, or University of Winnipeg undergraduate students, employed to assist in the execution and evaluation of research projects in their area of study. The positions may oversee Research Assistants in areas such as the use of proper techniques, analysis, and documentation.
Senior Research Assistants work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members, and are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing their own work within defined parameters.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Senior Research Assistant, you are a key player in our team. Your role is to assist in the execution and evaluation of research projects, bringing your unique expertise in fields such as public safety and security, criminal justice, and social wellness at national or international levels.
The selected candidate should demonstrate planning and analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative data), writing skills, preferably with research and field experience, interest in public safety work, excellent work ethics, and experience working on confidential projects. The Senior Research Assistant will work on several projects related to public safety personnel’s wellness in Canada and the United States.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At a minimum, must be in the final stage of a Master’s degree studies (Thesis base). Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled in and/or have completed graduate-level programs in social work, criminal justice, sociology, public safety, international security studies, and peace and conflict studies.
- Have completed their program’s required research methods class(es).
- Able to work independently.
- Able to work as part of a research team.
- Previous research experience, whether degree-based or as an R.A. would be an asset.
- Previous experience working in law enforcement, military, or first responder organizations and understanding those work dynamics would be an asset.
