Description
The Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Senior Research Associate. This Part-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Senior Research Associate role will be primarily to lead and support projects as assigned by the PI, including research projects, developing training materials and developing grant applications. There may be busier periods throughout the year, particularly around the time of major grant applications. While embedded in a team environment, the ideal candidate will also bring significant experience and initiative to projects.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for working on 1-2 projects at a time
  • Writing and submitting scientific manuscripts
  • Developing and delivering training materials to internal and external groups
  • Writing and coordinating grant application materials
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members in the development of reports, grant proposals, presentation materials, and manuscripts, including literature reviews, data analyses and other original research

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in health research (or a related area) is required
  • Experience developing and writing published manuscripts essential
  • Self-starter with strong personal initiative and ability to take initiative, multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines and manage work in a fast-paced environment is required
  • Ability to plan and conduct research and administrative activities within a team environment required
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Flexibility, commitment, and ability to plan meetings are required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills required
  • Knowledge of TCPS-2 guidelines for human subject research
