The post holder should have a strong background in qualitative methods applied to health services / public health research, have a higher degree in social sciences or a related discipline, and have experience of publishing findings in international peer-reviewed journals. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience working within a multidisciplinary team, and awareness of theoretical approaches to behaviour change and/or implementation of health-related interventions.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The researcher will be responsible for the qualitative component of the final phase of an NIHR funded programme of work to develop and implement evidence-based optimal testing strategies for monitoring long-term conditions, including chronic kidney disease and hypertension, in primary care. The role will involve supporting the implementation of the testing panels in a number of GP practices and evaluating their use. The testing panels are accompanied by a range of supporting resources including a website and part of the role will involve working with the website development team to maintain and update the website. The programme of work is hosted jointly by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration West (ARC West) and the Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC). The successful applicant will be based at ARC West.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
The qualitative researcher will support the recruitment of GP practices to the study along with patients and health care professionals for the evaluation component of the work. They will undertake semi structured interviews with research participants, analyse and write up interview data for peer review publication and project reports. They will have the opportunity to present research findings at conferences, seminars and policy making forums.
