We are looking for a Senior Research Data Scientist to join our Alzheimer’s Disease Translational Research team. You will lead and contribute to computational biology research projects utilizing multi-omic data in the AD Knowledge Portal, which hosts data from a variety of National Institutes on Aging-supported programs focused on Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. You will pursue independent and highly collaborative research aims with the goal of publishing papers, presenting findings at international conferences, and supporting working groups and other team science initiatives within AD Knowledge Portal-supported programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in Alzheimer’s Disease Research, have strong computational biology/bioinformatics skills as applied to multi-omic data, and will have enthusiasm for open science approaches to advancing research in Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias.
As a Senior Research Data Scientist, you will be considered highly skilled and proficient in data analytical techniques, conducting complex and important work under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. You will lead scientific projects, perform advanced data analysis, and contribute to scientific publications and strategic initiatives.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Extensive experience with R and/or Python programming, particularly for analysis of multi-omic data (such as transcriptomic, genetic, proteomic, metabolomic, and epigenetic data).
- Research background in Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias.
- Experience with collaborative development/version control systems (e.g., git).
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have strong collaboration and teamwork skills

At Sage Bionetworks, we implement equitable workplace strategies to guarantee fair compensation. Actual compensation is determined based on current market data, experience, and internal pay parity. This position is classified as a Sage Senior level, with a salary range of $107,500 to $144,570. New hires typically receive an offer between the minimum and midpoint of the range, although higher offers may be considered based on experience and market conditions.
We have a distributed workforce and support remote and/or on-site hybrid work arrangements within the United States. All interviews will be conducted virtually unless otherwise communicated.

Responsibilities:
- Scientific Research: Develop and lead innovative research initiatives using exploratory and hypothesis-driven data analysis on complex, high-dimensional datasets.
- Analysis and Modeling: Utilize advanced statistics, machine learning methods, and study design expertise to pose research questions and analyze and interpret data.
- Dissemination: Communicate research findings through publication of peer-reviewed research papers, maintain detailed records, present to funders and collaborators, and participate in research conferences and workshops.
- Coordination and Management: Work with data curation experts to help manage and coordinate scientific resources and data sharing among research consortia.
- Collaboration: Lead working groups to determine knowledge gaps and coordinate research goals across consortium members.
- Scientific Updates: Stay current with relevant scientific and technical developments.
- Methods Development: Create and document new methods, pipelines, and tools for data analysis, and adhere to standards of reproducible research.
