We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Research and Evidence Officer to join our Health Research & Innovation team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the evidence-gathering, appraisal, and synthesis processes essential for the development of Heart Foundation Guidelines and Systematic Reviews.
You will provide strategic oversight and contribute advanced expertise in secondary research methodologies, while mentoring junior staff and helping drive the organisation’s strategic goals in guiding evidence based clinical care.
This position is being offered on a fixed-term full time basis (24 months). You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between the office and home.
Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and evidence appraisals for guideline development.
- Refine evidence synthesis methodologies and ensure alignment with best practices.
- Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on methodological considerations.
- Oversee literature searches, data extraction, risk assessments, and evidence synthesis.
- Prepare evidence summaries, including GRADE tables and narrative syntheses.
- Serve as key contact for stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Coordinate public consultations and integrate feedback into guideline revisions.
- Lead preparation of reports, presentations, and recommendations for decision-making.
- Mentor junior staff and support training in evidence-based methodologies.
- Ensure accurate documentation and assist in drafting recommendations and guidelines.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Degree in a health-related field with advanced training in research methodologies or evidence synthesis.
- Extensive experience in leading systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, critical appraisal, meta-analyses, and guideline development.
- Expertise in evidence-based healthcare frameworks, including GRADE methodology.
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, with experience in producing high-quality reports and presentations.
- Proficiency in research software (e.g., EndNote, Covidence, Rayyan) and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Collaborative team player with excellent time management skills.
- Flexibility for occasional interstate travel.
