Description:

The Senior Research Fellow – Electrochemistry and Microfluidics will work collaboratively with the researchers from the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) on projects involving electrochemical detection in biosensor formats and/or microfluidic devices, publish research results, and apply for research funding to support research projects centered around advanced microscopy and spectroscopy techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with IDMxS researchers on projects involving electrochemical detection techniques and the fabrication of microfluidic devices.
  • Analyze electrochemical data, interpret results, and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Establish, maintain, and apply electrochemical capabilities, while troubleshooting technical issues and liaise with external vendors on repairs and servicing.
  • Publish research in scientific journals.
  • Apply for competitive research funding and manage funded research projects.
  • Mentor junior researchers and students in electrochemical and microfluidic techniques.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Biology, Engineering or related disciplines and at least 5 years of relevant research experience.
  • Proficiency in common electrochemical methods such as cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and potentiometry.
  • Experience with fabrication techniques such as soft lithography, photolithography, and micromachining.
  • Strong publication record in the area of electrochemistry.
  • Experience with application for competitive research funding is an advantage.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Ability to balance multiple research projects, meet deadlines and effectively collaborate with partners of different backgrounds and levels of expertise.
  • Capability to analyze and interpret complex data sets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot experiments and develop innovative solutions
