We are seeking an experienced researcher with expertise in research project management and qualitative research methodologies, including user-centred design metholodogies, to take a lead role in a new research grant funded by National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The study will aim to design and pilot test an anticholinergic medication index clinical decision support system (ACMICS) for use in hospitals to support safer prescribing for older people at risk of medication-related harm, using Contextual Inquiry and Normalisation Process Theory methods. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-class research centre and to work with internationally-renowned experts.
The post holder will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of this project. The post holder will be involved in setting up the research project, including working with the Informatics team to integrate ACMICS into hospital systems. The post holder will assume day-to-day responsibility for project management activities. The post holder will take a lead in implementing qualitative research for the study, which will include conducting contextual inquiry observations in geriatric/general medicine and orthogeriatric (hip fracture) wards, conducting semi-structured interviews with health care professionals, patients and their cares, and running workshops for stakeholders. Other responsibilities will include public engagement activities, data management and analysis, and providing regular progress reports.
The successful candidate will have a post-graduate degree or equivalent experience/qualification in a health or health/social care research related subject, have experience in project management, and considerable experience in undertaking and analysing qualitative research. Experience of user-centred design methodology, Contextual Inquiry and/or Normalisation Process Theory is essential.
There is an expectation that the post holder will be prepared to work flexibly and travel as required to attend local/regional/national meetings/events.

Contribute to a national and internationally recognised programme of research, within a framework of health services research.
Oversee implementation of the project.
Ensure that research governance procedures and data protection is adhered to at all times according to local and national guidance.
Working with Informatics team, software developers to integrate ACMICS into hospital systems.
Conduct qualitative research with staff, patients, and carers.
Manage and analyse a range of qualitative data.
Conduct workshops with a range of stakeholders (staff, patients and carers).
Report project progress and results.
Work as appropriate with colleagues in the Clinical Research Networks and academic colleagues in the University of Leeds and other collaborative partners.
Manage workload to ensure that the research is completed within timescales.
Contributing to resource and budget planning and assisting in management of project budgets.
Where appropriate, line management responsibility for ASR staff e.g. Research Fellow.
Provide training in specialty to support development of others.
Disseminate research results through writing of academic papers in high impact journals, and undertaking national and international presentations.
Contribute to development of new research proposals.
Provide advice and guidance to colleagues in the ASR.
Work with academic colleagues to take advantage of funding opportunities.
