Description:
INTERNAL VACANCY
This vacancy is open to employees of the University of Nottingham only.
We are looking for a friendly, engaging and enthusiastic person to join the Faculty of Science Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) team. In this role, you will manage the Faculty’s Research Operations Team and lead the effective and consistent delivery of research operations across the Faculty.
As a Senior Research Operations Manager you will:
- Lead the Research Operations team, line managing Research Managers in each Hub and facilitating the exchange of good practice.
- Manage the development and delivery of Faculty wide research-related operational processes, taking a proactive approach to maximising the Faculty’s research grant capture, income and margin and contributing to the continual improvement of research support across the Faculty.
- Contribute to strategic planning for RKE in the Faculty of Science
- Work closely with the Research Development team in delivering excellence in research support across the faculty, contributing in particular to the larger or more complex outputs, and working to appropriately target and maximise uptake of support offered.
And you will bring:
- Evidence of leadership and experience of managing staff including managing performance through coaching and motivation.
- The ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision, prioritising and planning your own workload.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, delivered with a proactive and positive attitude
- A high level of numeracy and proven ability to analyse and manipulate figures and data with ease.
- An ability to motivate, negotiate and influence both individuals and teams.
- Proven project management and problem-solving skills.
Extensive experience of the research funding processes in Higher Education and a thorough knowledge and understanding of working practices, processes and procedures relevant to research operations, including research lifecycle and associated outputs are essential. An understanding of funding bodies and financial management experience would be beneficial but not essential.
