Description:
Nokia Standards is seeking a talented wireless research engineer to join a fantastic team that creates the future 6G radio networks. We are seeking a collaborative team member who actively contributes to a positive and inclusive work environment with a vibrant and engaging workplace culture. Will be working as part of the Radio Interface and Access research team in Aalborg, Denmark, including cooperation with other Nokia sites, as well as potential participation in research collaborations with Universities and other industry players.
The main duties include:
- Creating state-of-the-art 6G radio solutions, including radio protocols and radio resource management innovations for exiting use-cases (e.g. next generation extended reality, green networks, coverage everywhere).
- Creating radio resource management solutions for 6G such as scheduling, link adaptation, interference mitigation, novel duplexing schemes.
- Bringing your 6G radio solutions into 3GPP standards and assess their end-to-end performance.
- System-level performance assessment by means of advanced simulations. Including modeling, simulator implementation, running simulations, analysis of simulator output, and drawing statistical reliable conclusions.
- Knowledge of 3GPP RAN specifications such as LTE and 5G NR, including PHY, MAC, RLC and RRC protocol layers. Understanding of radio resource management schemes.
- Ability to conduct both independent research as well as being a good collaborator working as part of team, including virtual multi-site teams.
- Agile mindset and willingness to occasionally change research direction and topics; e.g. as per 3GPP agreements for standardization research.
- The candidate holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or related disciplines. Preferably having system level radio research experience.
- Strong analytical skills, including abilities to address complicated problems, division of those into manageable sub-problems, and related problem-solving skills.
- Creative mindset and curiosity to research and develop new solutions.
- Strong ability to comprehend diverse perspectives within 3GPP technical discussions, facilitating constructive dialogue and collaborative solutions that achieve consensus.
- Experience with advanced system-level simulations, and the associated steps from modeling, implementation, execution of simulations, results analysis, and to the final step of communication of performance results.
- Experience with AI/ML for radio communication systems is a plus.
- Documented research experience and impact; e.g. from solid track record of high-quality publications at internationally recognized conferences and Journals and/or granted patent applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English.
