About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Researcher/Writer to join our Content Research and Analysis team on a year fixed term basis.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
Do you have a nose for a story, top-notch research and writing skills and the desire to make a difference in consumers’ lives?
As a Senior Researcher/Writer you’ll be investigating and writing content on energy - one of our most popular home content areas - for Which? magazine, our website and other channels.
You’ll work in a team of 40 including investigative researchers, journalists and market analysts making a difference to consumers’ lives through the research we do, the detriment we uncover and the help we give.
Your work will also have you working with others across the organisation too. But you’ll also enjoy the autonomy to pitch and develop your own content ideas with support from your editor.
The quality of your investigative research and analysis will play a vital role in upholding our well-deserved reputation for fairness, thoroughness and reliability.
This is primarily a desk-based role, but you will be required to use your networking skills to build external relationships with key contacts, and your varied approaches to investigative research may take you out-and-about to experience issues through the eyes of the consumer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
You’ll be organising original research-based investigations such as a survey of the best and worst energy companies (rated by their customers including our comprehensive member panel) or an investigation into green energy tariffs. You’ll pitch ideas for compelling research, have an ear to the ground in the ever-changing energy market, and make sure we cover breaking news.
You’ll be turning your research into compelling content - mainly for our website, but we’ll need someone who can turn their hand to news, online and print content and working with teams across the organisation, such as our press team to PR the best stories, our podcast team, or our social media team who put together video content.
You’ll be responsible for curating and adding to online energy advice, including guides to getting the best energy deals and figuring out which tariffs are most suitable, as well as tips for saving money. You’ll look at SEO trends and page metrics and take learnings from them to make sure your online advice and news content is being seen and used by the most people.
You’ll work with colleagues in other teams to optimise journeys from your energy content through to Which?’s independent energy tariff comparison service and a new online service that will help them to make improvements to their home to increase its energy efficiency.
