Description:
POSITION: SENIOR RESERVOIR ENGINEER
This position is responsible for contributing to and executing Greenfire’s subsurface operating and reservoir development strategy by optimizing the depletion of current well patterns and supporting the evaluation and execution of new development projects of SAGD wells in Greenfire’s portfolio at its Demo and Hangingstone Expansion operations. This role works closely with all engineering disciplines to identify development opportunities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET:
- Valid APEGA membership with a Professional Engineer designation.
- Ten (10) years of experience in a Reservoir Engineering role and/or related thermal production or development role is preferred.
- Experience in the Canadian Oil and Gas industry, specifically with comparable in-situ thermal oil sands field operations is a required skillset.
- Knowledge of thermal recovery processes, well operations, wellbore hydraulics, well completions, and sand control design.
- Proficiency with thermal software packages such as Exotherm, TWBS, Qflow, or CMG is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of public database software such as GeoScout/Acumap is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge and proficiency Excel, and the Office365 suite is required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Well organized with excellent project management, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Results oriented, decisive, and self-motivated to achieve and work under tight deadlines.
- Capable of working effectively with people from different disciplines, backgrounds and cultures in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet the demands of unpredictable activities.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the DIRECTOR RESERVOIR ENGINEERING
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to monitor, analyze, and optimize: SAGD well production, NCG Co-Injection, and depletion of subsurface well patterns.
- Maintain, history match, and update production forecasts in support of operations, budget, and reporting.
- Assist in developing numerical models for field history matching and performance predictions.
- Conduct reservoir and/or wellbore hydraulic simulations to support depletion strategies, technology deployment, and wellbore design.
- Collaborate in the capital and budget planning process by providing data driven recommendations for short- and long-term strategic optimization of assets.
- Perform competitor analysis and benchmarking to support continuous improvement.
- Provide support for regulatory applications as required.
- Work closely with the engineering and geoscience teams in reviewing and booking corporate reserves.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
