Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment. Senior Resident Medical Officers (SRMOs) will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients presenting in any condition or stage of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.
Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care, birthing unit, theatres and outpatients (e.g. antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology) clinics.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered, or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Must have completed at least 2 years (full time or part time equivalent) postgraduate experience in an Australia Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment with commitment to self- education and continuous professional development.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 24-hour shift work roster.
- Ability to recognise the acutely unwell patient and to initiate immediate management and institute Basic Life Support. Completion of ALS training, or willingness to complete in the first 3 months of appointment
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
