Description:
As a senior risk management advisor for P&C Insurance, you assume a leadership role when it comes to disclosing risk management issues to Desjardins General Insurance Group (DGIG)’s senior management and board of directors. You highlight risks so that they can be incorporated into strategy and decision-making processes. You also contribute to the implementation of an integrated risk management framework and help monitor strategic risk. Your overall mastery and integrated perspective of risk management issues put you in an ideal position to provide DGIG’s Chief Risk Officer with direct support during exchanges with decision-making bodies. In fact, your proximity to DGIG’s Chief Risk Officer and many other managers makes this a high-profile position. The scope of this role means you’ll be in contact with various industry players and stakeholders from across the organization, creating opportunities to learn more about the insurance sector and Desjardins Group processes. Risk management provides many interesting opportunities for professional development. More specifically, you will be required to :
- Steer, plan and develop quarterly disclosure process activities in line with the expectations of all stakeholders (contributors, the Chief Risk Officer, senior management and the board of directors)
- Use your in-depth and integrated risk knowledge to support DGIG’s Chief Risk Officer during presentations with decision-making bodies
- Coach contributors to ensure they’re able to deliver high-quality work on time
- Contribute to the implementation of the integrated risk management framework at all levels of the organization
- Implement and maintain strategic, reputational, cultural and geopolitical risk management
- Help identify and analyze emerging risks
- Contribute to the development and evolution of corporate governance, policies, standards, models and programs to support various projects and strategic initiatives
- Represent your department before various committees made up of senior managers and decision-making bodies.

What you bring to the table
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field
- A minimum of eight years of relevant experience in the P&C insurance industry
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Experience in project management and planning
- Member of a professional association (Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, CIA, GARP or similar)
- Knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec
- Advanced proficiency of English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Interest in risk management
- Note that the successful candidate will be required to travel between offices on occasion
