The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team partners across the AIG organization to inform strategic decision-making and to facilitate rational risk-taking that drives profitable growth. ERM ensures we have the right tools, processes and systems in place to identify, measure and manage our risks. How you will create an impact
As our Senior Risk Manager based in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland, you’ll support our Chief Risk Officer to lead the effective delivery of Line 2 enterprise risk management activities across the business. This is a high exposure role with a real opportunity to contribute directly to the Risk Team’s mission, which is to help AIG execute its strategy safely across Australia and New Zealand.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES WILL INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

Drives risk collaboration to support with ongoing risk maturity and contribute to fostering a positive risk culture across Australia and New Zealand.
Take a lead on the design, execution, and continued evolution of the risk management frameworks.
Develop and deliver appropriate staff training programs on risk management and AIG’s approach to risk.
Build mutually constructive partnerships with stakeholders to identify and mitigate key risks including providing oversight, review, and challenge to support safe business outcomes.
Lead the risk reporting procedures including supporting all departments with the accurate and timely reporting of risks, incidents, and issues into AIG’s reporting tools.
Lead and contribute to risk projects – this can range from regulatory changes in Australia and New Zealand, GRC tool implementation, climate disclosures, or regional and global initiatives.
Assist the Chief Risk Officer by preparing governance reports for relevant Committee and Board meetings.
Learn and apply best practice from across the risk industry. This includes enhancing AIG’s sophistication in key focus areas such as operational risk, insurance risk, strategic risk, risk appetite monitoring and risk culture.
Work closely with the business, compliance, legal and internal audit teams both locally, regionally (APAC) and globally.
What you’ll need to succeed
Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in risk, governance, or compliance.
Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills – including the ability to effectively engage with team members, executives, directors and/or regulatory officials.
Effective time management and prioritisation skills – you’ll deal with competing priorities and time sensitivity.
Ability to translate and adapt complexity and ambiguity to ensure simplification for business stakeholders to allow stronger understanding, integration, and accountability of risk management.
Ability to create an atmosphere of collaboration within AIG that ensures no questions are left unasked, no mistakes remain hidden, no ideas are left unspoken, and nobody is afraid to challenge consensus thinking.
Both an eye for detail and the ability to step back and see the bigger picture.
Flexibility to work well in a team-oriented environment, as well as across different cultures, time-zones, and geographies.
