Description:

Senior Safety & Learning Advisor - Enhancing Learning Organisations
Are you the dynamic individual we are seeking to help drive the Enhancing Learning Organisations programme and support the application of Putting Things Right principles throughout NHS Wales?
The Welsh Risk Pool coordinates Learning from Events in relation to claims and redress cases and has recently collaborated with organisations to develop a framework for Enhancing Learning Organisations.
Welsh Government are currently developing updated guidance to the Putting Things Right Regulations and the Welsh Risk Pool will play a key role in supporting health bodies to adopt the changes.
The introduction of the Duty of Candour in Wales has further increased openness and transparency within the NHS and the Welsh Risk Pool leads the support to organisations in applying the Duty.
This post will focus on these areas but will be involved in the wide and diverse portfolio which is led by the Welsh Risk Pool.
The postholder will lead on areas of the Welsh Risk Pool portfolio and be a key member of the Safety & Learning Function, with the ability to support all areas of the work.
The successful post holder will be required to provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information in circumstances where there may be barriers to understanding or engagement.
Presenting complex, sensitive, or highly contentious information to strategic bodies and large groups, with some communications needed where a hostile, antagonistic atmosphere may be present.
Highly developed communication skills in dealing with internal staff and external agencies to ensure compliance with performance, quality, and improvement targets, along with strategic objectives.
Regularly requires the use of negotiation and diplomacy; undertaking presentations to staff groups and stakeholders – needing to convey highly contentious information in atmosphere of proposed major change arising from research outcomes and quality improvement needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
At NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership we have high standards and expect everyone to embrace our values of Listening & Learning, Working Together, Taking Responsibility & Innovating, whilst ensuring trust, honesty and compassion are implicit in everything that we do.

Similarly, PROUD is our new staff network welcoming LGBT+ colleagues and allies to come together in a safe space for discussions, event planning and the opportunity to build supportive networks.
We have a comprehensive benefits package where there is something for everyone, supporting health, engagement and wellbeing.
