Description:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Strong background in engineering or mathematics coupled with an excellent understanding of Safety and Reliability engineering principles.
  • Capability to comprehend and analyze systems at both unit and detailed design levels.
  • Proficiency in Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is indispensable.

Desirable skills:

  • Proficiency in understanding the mathematical aspects of Safety and Reliability engineering, including statistics, probability theory, and mathematical modeling.
  • Sound understanding of both mechanical and electronic engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Fault Tree and FMEA software packages, as well as current aerospace standards and certification requirements.
  • Ability to derive system designs from safety requirements and propose design alterations to ensure compliance.
  • Competence in interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating milestones and document deliverables.
  • Capability to conduct Maintainability and occasional Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analyses would be advantageous.
  • Employ a logical approach to technical problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sharing knowledge within the team.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Cross-cultural awareness to navigate diverse team environments effectively.

Responsibilities:

WHAT DOES THE ROLE LOOK LIKE?

In this dynamic role, you will spearhead safety and reliability engineering within a multi-disciplinary project team in our Global Defence Systems value stream. Given the intricacy of this position, we welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Your primary responsibility will entail delivering expert engineering support to the Value Stream, focusing on hydromechanical and electromechanical drive systems, alongside electronic controllers. This involves collaborating within a multifunctional project team to develop system and product designs that strike the optimal balance between reliability, safety, and other design parameters.
Additionally, you will ensure that the engineering design meets reliability and safety requirements in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

WHAT WILL YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES LOOK LIKE?

  • Taking complete technical ownership for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating milestones and document deliverables, ensuring timely and complete delivery.
  • Actively engaging in providing input to the project team to optimize both system and product design concerning Safety and Reliability, including the provision of trade study data.
  • Offering analysis and data as needed for new product introduction projects.
  • Preparing relevant sections of proposals for new equipment and providing support for system studies.
  • Ensuring thorough consideration and implementation of lessons learned from previous in-service experiences.
  • Participating in design reviews and evaluating the impact of any design changes on reliability and safety.
  • Specifying Safety and Reliability requirements for bought-out specifications and system components.
  • Defining special test requirements for components or systems essential to achieving or demonstrating compliance with Safety and Reliability requirements.
  • Supporting Risk Analysis activities, identifying risks, and proposing mitigation methods (analysis, test comparison, etc.).
  • Providing technical expertise, advice, and guidance on reliability and safety across a diverse range of projects.
