Description:

WBUR’s Business Partnerships team is seeking a Senior Sales Strategist to join our team. The Business Partnerships team is responsible for securing sponsorship and funding for editorial initiatives across all of WBUR’s platforms, including local and national broadcasts, podcasts and on-demand audio, live event sponsorship, and custom content development. The Senior Sales Strategist will work with the Business Partnerships Team to secure sponsorship and funding for editorial initiatives across all of WBUR’s platforms, including our local and national broadcasts, podcasts and on-demand audio, digital display and newsletters, live events, and custom content. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of sales strategy, advertising agencies and account retention including media research and analysis and creating winning proposals for existing clients and new prospects. The Senior Sales Strategist will be an integral part of the Business Partnerships team and reports directly to the Manager, Business Partnerships. Remote, US candidates will be considered for this role. Our office location is Boston.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and steward deep senior level media agency relationships.
  • Regularly meet with key stakeholders.
  • Attend relevant industry events.
  • Know client roster at all key agencies and pitch regularly.
  • Oversee key WBUR legacy accounts.
  • Cultivate deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide outstanding client service.
  • Improve retention rate by using data and insights from current or past campaigns.
  • Grow renewal revenue by addressing client KPIs and skillfully leveraging cross-platform assets.
  • Work closely with Account Executives to develop creative narratives and multiplatform proposals for renewal and new business pitches.
  • Leverage deep knowledge and understanding of the marketplace, categories, media and advertising business, and trends to design custom partnership solutions that drive revenue growth.
  • Lead account conversations with key internal partners to evaluate account performance, develop short and long-term strategies and discuss/act upon optimization opportunities.

Required Skills

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in media analytics and ad agencies.
  • Strong relationships with advertising agencies.
  • Experience providing high level media sales support.
  • Impeccable communication and relationship-management skills, across both internal and externalconstituencies.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills as well as exceptional proposal writing and presentationskills.
  • Experience building and selling cross-platform (broadcast, podcast, event, digital, social, etc) partnerships toalign with sponsor goals - clear understanding of live event and podcast media and how they’re sold.
  • Excellent campaign management and optimization skills.
  • Ability to be proactive, take ownership, work independently as well as within a team.
