DETAILS OF THE ROLE AND HOW IT FITS INTO THE TEAM

Sanctions and Embargoes is a department within Anti-Financial Crime (AFC), that has significantly increased in practical relevancy, particularly in the context of sanctions imposed against Russia.
Deutsche Bank’s full compliance with all applicable sanctions obligations is mandatory across the Group and is directly supported by the bank’s management.
AFC - Sanctions & Embargoes is globally responsible, among other things, for monitoring the regulatory situation, publishing the relevant regulations in the bank, maintaining and interpreting the Global Sanctions Policy, technical coordination with the Regional Sanctions Heads, advising the business units and infrastructure functions on embargo-relevant issues, defining the bank’s minimum standards for compliance with sanctions requirements and developing processes that are aimed at compliance with sanctions requirements.
Global Sanctions Advisory is one of the teams within Sanctions & Embargoes with a global remit and is tasked with advising on sanctions regulations and compliance from a bank-wide, multi-jurisdictional perspective.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively identify, interpret, and evaluate new and amended international sanctions and export control measures from multiple jurisdictions, including the EU, US, and UK.
  • Provide sanctions advice on transactions and client relationships escalated to the global Sanctions & Embargoes team, particularly in the areas of trade finance, corporate banking, investment banking, securities trading and custody.
  • Develop guidance and decision frameworks that take into account both Deutsche Bank policy and applicable sanctions regulations, for use across the bank by business lines and the wider Sanctions & Embargoes team.
  • Assessment of high-risk transactions and/or customer relationships and independent presentation of them in senior management bodies.
