Description:

ReOrbit is looking for highly experienced individual to be our first Senior Satellite Operations Engineer. Based out of our HQ in Helsinki, Finland this role will be the driving force behind developing and implementing satellite operations requirements across all company projects.
In this pivotal position, you will serve as the primary point of contact for our customers, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded. You will also coordinate with all internal departments to ensure seamless integration and successful project execution. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Educational Background: University degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Spacecraft Operations: Experience in spacecraft operations engineering (GEO experience would be a benefit).
  • Mission Control Systems: Proficiency with mission control systems and operations preparation tools.
  • Satellite Simulators: Experience with Dynamic Satellite Simulators.
  • Performance Monitoring: Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting, including anomaly analysis and resolution, as well as procedure change control and configuration management processes.
  • Ground Segment Facilities: Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities.
  • System Specifications: Expertise in specifying system and operational concepts and facility requirements.
  • Knowledge of On-Board Control Procedures (OBCPs) and the Packet Utilization Standard (PUS).
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • You are a highly proactive team player with excellent technical communication and presentation skills.
  • You are willing and able to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the commissioning and routine operations of current and upcoming satellites.
  • Provide support for platform and payload subsystems, satellite simulator, on-board software management, and ground segment operations interfaces.
  • Participate in the definition and acceptance of the satellite simulator, providing also support for the development and/or procurement follow-up, and maintenance of the satellite simulator as needed
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation and flight procedures.
  • Conduct trending and performance analysis of platform and payload including support to yearly and specific operations reviews (e.g. eclipses, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc.)
  • Investigate and resolve satellite anomalies.
  • Participate in the satellite on-call support rotation.
  • Prepare systems and operations for new satellites.
  • Contribute to and review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts.
  • Review space-to-ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals.
  • Contribute to defining and executing Operational System Validation activities, including SVTs, rehearsals, and necessary training for operations personnel before system commissioning.
  • Assist in defining tools and processes for satellite operations.
