Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Scheduler/Planner will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining detailed project schedules for complex civil infrastructure projects. The role requires expertise in project scheduling, planning, and coordination, with a focus on ensuring timely project delivery and effective resource allocation. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional teams, you will play a critical role in supporting project goals, identifying risks, and optimizing timelines.
This position is based in downtown Toronto

What you’ll be working on

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for large-scale civil infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Analyze schedule data and provide regular updates and reports to project managers and senior leadership on project progress, potential delays, and resource needs.
  • Work with project teams to integrate project schedules, resource planning, and cost data into a comprehensive project control system.
  • Conduct schedule risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential delays, recommending solutions to address schedule variances.
  • Facilitate regular schedule review meetings with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project timelines and changes.
  • Implement change management processes for schedule adjustments, ensuring all changes are documented, assessed for impact, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize project schedules and resource allocations, driving project efficiency.
  • Prepare and present progress and forecast reports, including schedule variances, critical path analysis, and earned value assessments.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and project teams to ensure adherence to the project schedule, proactively addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Support the project close-out process by ensuring that final schedules and documentation are complete, accurate, and ready for submission.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in project scheduling and planning within large civil infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Certifications such as PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional), or PMI-SP (Scheduling Professional) preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with scheduling software
  • Proven expertise in critical path method (CPM) scheduling, resource loading, and earned value management (EVM).
  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure project phases, timelines, and interdependencies.
  • Experience in risk assessment, including schedule risk analysis and development of contingency plans.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior leadership and project teams.
