- You hold a relevant PhD degree related to the field of non-viral vectors for RNA delivery (e.g., biochemistry, chemistry, nanotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related fields), ideally with several years of professional experience in the field of non-viral vectors for RNA delivery, either as a Postdoc or Scientist / Lab Head in a biotech or pharmaceutical industry setting
- You demonstrate a strong record of scientific excellence in nucleic acid drug delivery, as evidenced by publications, patents, and conference presentations
- You have extensive technical knowledge and experience in the design, analytical characterization (e.g., DLS, HPLC, SEC), and performance evaluation of non-viral vectors (e.g., LNPs, VLPs) for nucleic acid delivery
- You bring experience in lipid chemistry and bioconjugation techniques
- You have practical skills in cell-based and/or in vivo assays to assess the performance of novel non-viral vectors
- You possess knowledge of state-of-the-art gene editing technologies
- You excel at working independently while being an excellent team player
- You love to network and connect to people crossfunctionally
- You are a creative, flexible thinker with high motivation and a proactive attitude
- You have excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Senior Scientist / Associate Principal Scientist in nucleic acid drug delivery and non-viral vector design to advance therapeutic RNA delivery. In this role, you will be an integral part of a vibrant, dynamic, and cross-functional network of dedicated scientists within Bayer’s cell and gene therapy community. The team’s mission is to develop next-generation non-viral vectors to solve some of the biggest challenges in today’s medicine and ultimately, offer hope to patients.
- You will design, prepare, characterize, and evaluate novel non-viral vectors for the delivery of RNA-based therapeutics
- You will establish innovative concepts around extrahepatic delivery of therapeutic RNAs and drive experiments to test these concepts in high-throughput in vitro and in vivo settings
- You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across all divisions and engage with external partners in industry and academia
- You will advocate for groundbreaking science within Bayer’s cell and gene therapy community by participating in external collaborations, presenting at conferences, and contributing to scientific publications
