Description:
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The main accountabilities in this role are:
- Generating, evaluating, and delivering robust data using high-content screening and imaging-based techniques.
Improving strategic capabilities and optimizing assays to enhance innovation in genotoxicity assessments, striving to offer more accurate and relevant predictions of hazards to humans.
- Developing and leveraging advanced data analysis and visualization tools, along with exceptional communication skills, to optimally inform and contextualize information to stakeholders at all levels.
- Interpreting relevant genotoxicity test guidelines with an understanding of pharmaceutical requirements.
- Generating and/or evaluating data from genetic toxicology studies from both internal and external sources.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- A PhD or extensive relevant experience in Toxicology or equivalent life-science subject is required.
- Demonstratable experience in High Content Imaging screening data generation and assessment and the use of automation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical details to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Willingness to challenge conventional thinking and implement creative ideas balanced with a high regard and understanding for the regulatory framework in which AstraZeneca operates is expected.
- Proven ability to consistently deliver high-quality results within tight and shifting timeframes.
- Develops own level of scientific competence by keeping up to date on relevant scientific developments, by collaborating with peer scientists or through contacts with external groups.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Experience working within a laboratory environment, preferably with a primary focus on toxicology science and with knowledge and experience of drug development.
- Experience in providing design and interpretation of regulatory toxicology data.
- Experience in Genetic Toxicology and its application in relation to Safety Assessment.

Responsibilities:
INTRODUCTION TO ROLE
We are searching for a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join the Genetic Toxicology team. In this role, you will play an important part in our Genetic Toxicology Group and within the broader Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences department. This role will be based in Cambridge, UK, in our state-of-the-art Discovery Centre on the Biomedical campus, a highly collaborative environment that enables us to drive innovation across our disciplines. We are looking for a scientist with experience in Genotoxicity assessment, particularly for pharmaceuticals, with a focus on expertise in the assessment of genotoxicity through high throughput imaging and screening methodologies. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of working independently to tight timelines.
