Description:

You will assist with the supervision and coordination of the Haematology/Transfusion Department in the Gold Coast University Hospital Laboratory to ensure that all laboratory practices comply with Pathology Queensland requirements in providing an effective and efficient Haematology/Transfusion service to the Gold Coast district health service.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply well developed scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of Haematology/Transfusion advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level advice to laboratory staff and clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to service delivery and improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in the day to day management of Haematolog/Transfusion.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must at least hold a relevant Australian recognised tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science
  • Comprehensive experience in Haematology and Transfusion Medicine is considered mandatory.
  • This position may be required to participate in an ’on call’ service and/or a roster providing seven day per week service coverage.
