Description:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
As a Senior Scientist, you will collaborate with other structural biologists, biophysicists, protein scientists, bioscientists, and chemists in cancer drug discovery. You will develop crystal systems enabling iterative structure-based drug design programs, fragment-based lead discovery, and the determination of inhibitor mechanism. You will support multiple crystallography projects in parallel, delivering and interpreting liganded protein structures to project team chemists, providing insight for drug design.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biophysics, Biochemistry or a related discipline or extensive experience in a similar role
- Core skill base in macromolecular crystallization, X-ray diffraction data collection, structure solution and refinement
- Experience with crystallization robotics and databases
- Knowledgeable in protein handling, preparing ligand complexes and characterization methods
- Good understanding of how protein structure relates to protein function
- Strong communication skills and experience of multidisciplinary team working
- Exposure to the drug discovery environment where structural and biophysical studies are used to drive medicinal chemistry
- Experience in related areas such as protein science, and biophysics
