Description:
EDUCATION:
Community College diploma in a related field (Law and Security, Police Foundations, etc.) or equivalent training, experience and education in a security or related field. Valid Ontario Private Investigator licence. valid Ontario Security Guard licence, valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s licence in good standing. current valid First Aid and CPR Certificates required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years experience in York University Security Services preferred or equivalent experience and training in a related industry. Demonstrated experience in effective non-violent conflict resolution, and mediation skills required

Proficient with word-processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel) and computer presentation skills (MS PowerPoint). Familiarity with email and working knowledge of computers and software in general.
Conflict resolution and mediation skills, pro-active crime prevention methods.
Ability to work effectively under stressful and demanding situations (e.g. bomb threats, disturbances, demonstrations, etc.). ability to multi-task and work under pressure with conflicting and constantly changing priorities.
Ability to take direction.
Ability and willingness to undertake and participate in various departmental training initiatives and exercises.
Familiarization with federal, provincial, and municipal laws applicable in a university environment.
Must successfully complete the York Security Services Advance Patrol Training certification program as required.

Responsibilities:
To use an Intervention capable security model to provide security and investigative services to the York University Community. This includes, but is not limited to incident follow-up (further to basic Security Official follow-up) / background information collection. paper-trail and multi-media support and documentation subsequent to occurrences and incidents. providing back-up support for further university legal action, and university sanctions and compiling and distributing information to Police Services, community administrators such as Office of Student Conflict Resolution, management and other groups or individuals as required and directed.
