Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse – Acute Medicine
Why join us?
An overview of our “Changing for the Future” strategy
As part of our vision for the future we have created exciting acute medicine opportunities within our newly constructed £3.5m 45-bed Acute Medical Unit (AMU) based at Morriston Hospital site. The unit is entirely redesigned with more staff, more treatments and advanced new equipment/facilities. In addition to these, this 21 st Century Acute Medical Unit is a dedicated front of house facility with an integrated trolley-based Assessment Unit and a new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit. Supported by integrated diagnostics, therapies and pharmacy hubs. This is designed to give people better access to emergency care and cut through long waiting lists for operations and aims to minimise the length of stay for patients (target being 48 hours).
The new acute medical unit will provide a single medical intake for the population of Swansea Bay UHB that will ultimately be based at Morriston Hospital.
The acute medical workforce is currently being expanded to meet the service redesign changes. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the running and establishment of the Acute Medical Unit consisting of an assessment unit, short stay unit and Same Day Emergency Care. Providing the post holder with opportunities for personal development, growth and a sense of belonging amongst the acute medical team.
