We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Expert (Hospitality) to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of Lightspeed’s SRE team, you will ensure the reliability and performance of our products, which support tens of thousands of cafes and restaurants worldwide.
You will be responsible for managing infrastructure like Kubernetes, AWS, Datadog, and continuous deployment pipelines. As a senior SRE, you will work autonomously and collaboratively on tasks ranging from multi-month migrations to daily operations, while also automating processes and developing tools to enhance our platform’s functionality and prevent downtime. The ideal candidate for this role has thorough knowledge of industry best practices and a commitment to delivering business value by balancing efficiency and quality.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate closely with your SRE teammates to maintain the smooth operation of our production environment.
  • Develop our platform and infrastructure using Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Operate various software solutions, including:
  • Kubernetes (EKS) and applications like Karpenter, ArgoCD, Istio.
  • Datastores such as MySQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch.
  • Manage developer access permissions to our production environment.
  • Engage in architecture planning and cloud cost management.

Please note that this role participates in a paid on-call roster for approximately 6 weekends per year.
What you need to bring:

We’re looking for a candidate who has experience with the following:

  • Extensive experience in similar roles (SRE, DevOps, or cloud/platform engineering).
  • Technical expertise in Terraform, AWS, Kubernetes, and Linux administration
  • Previous technical experience with MySQL, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Datadog.
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming with Go, Python, or TypeScript is desired.
  • Familiarity with continuous deployment tools, particularly ArgoCD, CircleCI, and GitHub Actions.
  • Prior experience collaborating with teams and stakeholders across different time zones.
