SALARY RANGE: £30,000 - £40,000 PER ANNUM DEPENDANT ON EXPERIENCE

A leading publications and communications company on African political and economic issues, is on the lookout for a dynamic Senior Social Media Executive to elevate their digital presence and drive engagement. The company has a number of acclaimed publications, reaching over 2.6 million readers across hundreds of countries, offering in-depth insights and unique narratives. The Group is a leading source of analysis and debate on African political and economic issues, through its magazines, digital media, newsletters, market intelligence, and international events. The Senior Social Media Executive will be in charge of managing the social media presence for the Group (media; events; partner events; advisory).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing social media in a multimedia environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, politics, social sciences, journalism, communications, public relations, digital marketing or a related field.
  • Test & learn approach in adapting social media strategies based on KPIs.
  • Proficiency in social analytics and paid campaigns.
  • Strong grasp of audience segmentation and content strategies.
  • Proven track record of converting followers into paying subscribers.
  • Creative, engaging, and strategic copywriting & storytelling skills.
  • Analytical mindset; the ability to simplify complex ideas and make them easily digestible and engageable.
  • Creative mindset with a proactive approach in proposing diverse content formats and a keen eye for design.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in designing content for different communications channels: news, intelligence/analysis and events/conferences.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and a willingness to experiment.
  • Collaborative spirit to work with sales, marketing, and editorial teams.
  • Passion for world affairs, and ideally an interest for those related to Africa

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Social Media Accounts: Oversee the companies presence on all social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
  • Develop and Execute Strategy: Craft a social media strategy based on competitive research to enhance growth and engagement.
  • Expand Reach: Identify opportunities to grow audiences and convert followers into subscribers.
  • Create Engaging Content: Collaborate with internal teams to produce compelling social media campaigns, including animations, videos, and graphics.
  • Analyse Performance: Maintain a metrics dashboard and deliver monthly reports to inform strategy adjustments.
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep up with social media developments, tools, and best practices.
  • Cultivate Tone of Voice: Establish a consistent, trustworthy voice that resonates with global audiences.
  • Innovate: Propose new ideas and technology to enhance engagement and traffic.
  • Leverage Current Events: Identify cultural moments for meaningful engagement and brand awareness.
