The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Software Architect to join the Government Training Engineering (GTE) Training Systems Operating Systems team in support of the KC-46 Software Sustainment Organic Capability Standup (SSOCS) located in Oklahoma City, OK. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization.
As Senior Software Architect of the transition of KC-46 labs from Seattle to Tinker AFB, this position would be responsible for design, integration, and testing of KC-46 Training Software, including vehicle management application software, embedded infrastructure software, and associated displays. The lead architect would be a liaison between the Seattle team where development has been historically and the local Oklahoma City team doing the integration.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 5 + years of experience providing technical leadership of diverse teams
  • 5+ years of experience in the software development full lifecycle
  • 5+ years of experience with Unix/Linux, C/C++, Python/Perl, and/or Fortran

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with engineering of large-scale systems and overall systems engineering disciplines
  • Experience in the field of simulation, particularly aircrew (flight) simulators and/or trainers
  • Experience maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Strong background in software engineering and design practices
  • Strong background in Software Architecture
  • Experience developing training/simulation systems
  • Experience in commercial or military aircraft development
  • Experience using Clearcase/ClearQuest

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads architecture of KC-46 Sustainment labs, including program application, infrastructure software, and cyber
  • Works across Enterprise and Program Software teams to ensure a coherent software architecture
  • Coordinates with other functions, such as Hardware, Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E), and Tinker Software Engineering Group (SWEG), to shape overall software architecture and associated interfaces between groups
  • Architect shapes development activities including driving optimized software development pipelines and automatic testing of full software stacks within the Boeing Software Factory
  • Assure the development team’s products effectively addresses program priorities
    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
