We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join the team working to deliver engine and system improvements that enable the C++ version of Minecraft to scale into new features and experiences. You will join a team of on-site engineers in Redmond responsible for leveraging their engine and game systems knowledge to deliver targeted improvements across the technology stack. You will combine C++ expertise, knowledge of the inner workings of game technology, proficiency working on game systems that interact with graphics systems, and cross-team collaboration to deliver critical business impact. By partnering with other teams across Minecraft and leveraging your expertise, you will ensure that our engine is performant, scalable, and above all else enables us to continue delighting millions of customers across our many platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Rust
- OR equivalent experience.
- Prior experience as a engineer/developer or core game systems developer on one or more shipped game titles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience developing in C++, preferably cross-platform.
- Knowledge of the architecture and development of modern game engines.
- Experience with game system development & game performance challenges for cross platform games.
- Troubleshooting and debugging skills.
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities:
- Deliver engineering improvements to the Minecraft engine and systems that enable our partner teams to successfully release new game features
- Collaborate on cross team initiatives that are outcome oriented, working to identify and understand tradeoffs as they pertain to the project goal
- Lead by example within the team by demonstrating skilled investigations, product focused decision making, and cross team collaboration
- Contribute to architecture, planning, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
