Basic Qualifications -

• Systematic problem-solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis, AND
• Experience in building and managing distributed system (e.g. Spark, Ray) AND
• Expertise in Python and one of Go or Jav

- Preferred Qualifications -

• Experience in contributing and/or engaging with open source projects
• Techniques to train and evaluate large language models.
• Workflow systems such as Airflow and Cadenc

Teams at Uber leverage machine learning and AI to optimize and build innovative products. Uber’s Michelangelo Machine Learning Platform provides an end-to-end platform to enable these teams to leverage machine learning and AI at scale.
Uber is on the lookout for top software engineers to join our Michelangelo Machine Learning Platform team. This role involves building and managing robust distributed systems, and solving infrastructure challenges to empower Uber’s product engineering and data science teams with the latest technologies in AI/ML. You will join a team of strong software and systems engineers, executing in a fast paced environment.

What the Candidate Will Do -

• Envision, design, and deliver software and tools as part of state-of-the-art ML platform team including Generative AI and/or Large Models
• System architecture design, providing the best developer experience for Uber’s ML practitioners
• Work with infrastructure teams such as Storage and Compute. Debug complicated infrastructure issues.
• Work with customer teams and provide them the best practices of ML
• Participate in periodic on-call rotations and be available for critical issues

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
