Description:

Solutions Design is a critical function where success is dependent on working effectively with many other departments such as Operations, Business Development, Innovation, Accelerated Digitalisation, IT and Finance across all levels.
We currently have an opening within our Solutions Design team for a Senior Solution Design Manager. We require an individual who has a proven track record in the design and implementation of Operational Warehousing solutions. You will act as the subject matter expert in this area, working with multiple functions, both internally and externally, to provide bespoke warehouse solutions that meet the customers’ requirements and support the DHL growth performance agenda.
As an experienced Senior Solutions Design Manager, you will lead multiple work streams and manage the early design principles and assumptions, project risks and issues, detailed design phase, as well as implementation support.
Solution Designers are at the forefront of industry best practice and this knowledge will allow you to benchmark and validate supply chain solutions. In conjunction, you will also conduct sensitivity analysis and stress testing to future proof designs. During this process, the role holder will provide support, coaching and guidance to junior team members to support team growth and development.

Responsibilities:

As part of your normal duties, whilst maintaining excellent health and safety practices, you will be responsible for:

  • Design end-to-end large-scale manual and mechanised operational solutions.
  • Ability to design end to end manual, mechanised and fully integrated automated solutions independently, considering all operational impacts, identifying, and mitigating risks as well as providing commercial insights to key stakeholders for both existing facilities and new build scenarios.
  • Ability to self –manage workload and timescales.
  • Be proactive in challenging ways of working with your practice, regularly lead peer reviews and provide technical feedback to enhance quality of bid responses.
  • Lead the way in identifying more efficient ways of working and tools to enhance the design process.
  • Project manage significant bids.
  • Use influencing skills with stakeholders for example to gain operational buy in on a solution.
  • Coach junior designers with project support.
  • Provide mentorship to junior designers and pipeline talent looking to join SD.
  • Allocation and delegation of work to the practice team, giving individuals task ownership whilst you maintain responsibility for completion.
