The Senior Specialist is primarily responsible for assisting the Manager and/or Team Leader in delivering on program/operational mandates within a specific area of expertise by executing key activities and developing the required deliverables. As part of this role, the Senior Specialist develops the required processes, tools, and technology to implement key activities and deliver on program plans.
The Senior Specialist is focused on projects/programs/operational areas that are large and broad in scope, have more complex mandates/objectives, and/or related to more than one focused area of expertise.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Drive the conceptualization, development, implementation, and management of multiple projects and timelines
  • Support the managers, team leads and other team members in the development and maintenance of work plans to ensure completion of deliverables on time, operational accountabilities, and escalate project risks as appropriate
  • Co-lead Radiation Funding Clinical Operations (RT QBP) including support of operational processes and evaluation initiatives
  • Support the development of the Annual Business Plan for ministry submission
  • Actively manage projects with Communities of Practice, identifying and effectively communicating with relevant stakeholders and clinicians, managing project documentation and work plans, driving agendas, and providing input in a collaborative setting
  • Lead Request For Quote (RFQ) process to select brachytherapy vendors
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with program area partners to design, plan, and execute work in support of program goals
  • Develop and present materials for review and informational purposes using excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills, with ability to express complex concepts effectively to a variety of stakeholders
  • Participate and lead, where appropriate, meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency in work and identify opportunities for collaboration
  • Lead project and program activities, including working with internal and external partners, leading advisory/working groups and project teams to operationalize and monitor tasks, and milestones
  • Monitor key internal performance metrics and escalate as appropriate
  • Make recommendations with respect to related policies and procedures
  • Develop various products including but not limited to literature reviews, briefing notes, analytical reports, executive summaries, status updates and presentations to support internal and external communication, business reporting and decision-making
  • Monitor, collate and synthesize information on evidence, trends, and best practices to facilitate program planning and decision making
  • Support integration within Ontario Health departments on related work, as appropriate, and supports other initiatives with the program area
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to support project and/or program goals, as required
  • Contributing to clinical programs knowledge transfer and exchange (KTE) activities (e.g., publication of scholarly articles, presentations, etc.) and maintaining subject matter expertise

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in health science, business/health administration, public health/policy or a related field is required
  • A Masters’ degree preferred in Health Sciences, Health Administration, Business Administration or related clinical field plus 5 years’ experience
  • An understanding of Ontario’s healthcare system with particular emphasis on palliative care, Long-Term Care, primary care, and provider engagement
  • Experience in the health care system, and more specifically with government, LHINs, and/or palliative and end-of-life sector, is preferred
  • Experience engaging and working directly with health system stakeholders and health service providers; engaging patients, caregivers, First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and urban Indigenous and special populations an asset
  • Experience applying project management methodologies (PMP or equivalent experience an asset)
  • Expertise and experience in data analysis, literature searches, policy analysis, and business strategy, and the ability to translate information into a convincing written argument, summaries, briefs, or business case

  • Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect
  • Knowledge of best practices related to inclusion and health equity are considered an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word required; experience with Project an asset

Employment Type: Contract (12 month)
Location: Toronto, Ontario (currently hybrid; subject to change).
