Description:

Are you an experienced specialist or senior specialist speech and language therapist with an interest in stroke and neurology?
Do you wish to use and develop your leadership skills?
Do you have videofluoroscopy and/or FEES competencies?
Are you passionate about continuous professional development?
Due to changes in funding, we have an exciting new opening for a senior specialist SLT or developmental role for an experienced specialist SLT with a special interest in stroke and neurology on our newly designed and refurbished state of the art hyper acute stroke unit (HASU) and acute stroke unit (ASU).
You would be encouraged to utilise and develop leadership skills within both the multidisciplinary team and supporting speech and language therapy colleagues on the unit and within the friendly and supportive team.
To undertake comprehensive specialist holistic assessment, diagnosis and management of acute acquired communication and swallowing impairments.
Devise SMART goals for speech and language rehabilitation, working with Speech and Language therapy assistant to deliver person centred care.
Close liaison and working with patients, families, MDT, community services and Early Supported Discharge team, representing speech and language therapy and advocating for our patients.
Provide expert clinical advice, leadership and support within the SLT team as “senior of the day”.
Providing line management and supervision to junior colleagues.
Competencies in tracheostomy/videofluoroscopy/FEES are welcomed and there may be potential opportunities to undertake competencies in some of these.
There will be opportunities for quality improvement projects and service development in this role.
You will receive excellent CPD opportunities both in house and externally.
