Job Description
As Senior Sport & Operations Lead you will strategically guide the design, implementation and management of programming delivered at MLSE LaunchPad and ensure our facility continues to be a living lab for developing best in class youth Sport For Development programming and sport equity practices. You will work cross-functionally with MLSE’s community leadership team to ensure MLSE LaunchPad’s pedagogy is present in both in-facility and external community sports programming by informing coach training and ensuring integration with existing programs and future growth initiatives.

  • Contribute as a core member of the MLSE LaunchPad and Community Leadership Team.
  • Lead fiscal business planning for portfolio that contributes to the overall organizational business plan.
  • Develop, monitor, and administer all aspects of MLSE LaunchPad staffing, policies, and program logistics that serve both corporate and charitable priorities.
  • Report to MLSE LaunchPad Board of Directors on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure the organizational commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is reflected in all programs.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and lead a diverse team of full-time and hourly sports programming staff.
  • Represent the organization as a presenter at local and national conferences.
  • Represent MLSE LaunchPad in strategic discussions on growth readiness and ability to scale.
  • Lead the Day-to-Day operations of MLSE LaunchPad’s facility.
  • Through cross-functional leadership shape operational and facility efficiencies to prioritize LaunchPad’s role as a hub for collaboration, a leader in research and knowledge mobilization, and an innovator in using sport for positive change are maintained.
  • Oversee the operational needs of MLSE LaunchPad including internal communications, staff scheduling, incident management and health and safety.
  • Work cross-functionally with the LaunchPad operations team to execute a standard of excellence in member services and facility management cleanliness through the creation and execution of processes that adhere to policies and regulations.
  • Track trends and changing community needs to ensure appropriate client services for MLSE LaunchPad members and guests.
  • Identify key areas of opportunity for growth and scale, informed by community need and program readiness.
  • Remain up-to-date on new research and best practices that will enhance the quality and standards of program implementation and respond to changing community needs.

  • You work well in a highly collaborative environment. You are ready to lead and to pitch in. You’re excited to collaborate with partners and participants on projects both big and small.
  • You create efficient systems that enable you to work quickly, solve problems proactively, and produce exceptional quality work. You’re comfortable managing significant program budgets in excess of $1 Million and ensuring alignment with forecasts and expectations. You’re confident using tools like Microsoft office to support your productivity, and are comfortable adapting to changing priorities as needed.
  • You have good understanding of the communities we serve and aspire to create equitable opportunities for participation. You have familiarity with applying anti-oppressive and anti-racist principles to your work, and engage in continued learning in these areas.
  • You’re an advocate for the importance of physical literacy and sport engagement in the lives of youth. You’re familiar with our core four sports of basketball, hockey, soccer and/or football, and can imagine and communicates ways in which these activities positively impact young people.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills. You coach staff towards success, and are comfortable working with partners, participants and community members of varying ages, cultural backgrounds and lived experiences. You engage both internal and external stakeholders in ways that invite their insights and report on work in ways that support transparency and accountability.
