The Role
Our Multi National Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Consultant Structural Engineer to join their team in Abu Dhabi. Successful candidates will have strong Structural Engineering experience working on new build projects in a supervision consultant capacity for a recognised PMC / Consultancy business. This role is available for immediate joining and is for an initial 6 month fixed term contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting. Key Responsibilities: Structural Design: Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to develop structural designs that meet the project’s requirements, including safety, functionality, and aesthetics. Analyze and calculate loads, stresses, and forces acting on the structure to determine appropriate materials and design specifications. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to create detailed structural plans and drawings. Code Compliance: Ensure that all structural designs and construction methods comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for structural aspects of the project. Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies to assess the structural viability of potential real estate development projects. Provide input on the cost estimates, timelines, and technical challenges associated with structural aspects of the project. Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis using software and analytical tools to simulate how the building or structure will behave under various conditions, including loads, earthquakes, and environmental factors. Identify and address any potential structural weaknesses or issues. Material Selection: Select appropriate construction materials, considering factors such as strength, durability, cost, and environmental impact. Specify material quality and procurement methods. Construction Oversight: Collaborate with construction teams to ensure that the structural design is implemented correctly during the construction phase. Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing construction, identify any deviations from the design, and provide solutions. Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to verify that construction materials and methods meet the required standards. Perform structural integrity tests and inspections as necessary. Budget Management: Assist in developing and managing the structural engineering portion of the project budget. Provide input on cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges related to the structural aspects of the project and develop mitigation plans. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, project managers, and clients. Provide regular updates on the progress and status of structural engineering activities. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and records of structural design decisions and changes.
Requirements
Structural Engineer Experience: Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering. Minimum BSc You will have demonstrable experience of delivering projects from concept through completion in a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-office project execution environment for a recognised consultancy in the GCC You will be an experienced user of structural engineering software including CSi ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis, STAAD, Prokon in addition to in-house spreadsheets. You will have a solid background knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software, with ability to carry out coordination through Revit. You will have the ability to undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects and provide guidance for remedial repairs. Preference will be given to a Chartered Engineer with IStructE (or working towards it). A can do, hands on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritize workload to meet project needs Willing and quick to adapt to project/team needs and learn from experience
